What are you wearing to school every day?
In Taiwan, most students wear uniform.
Choosing what to wear is not the mission for students every morning.
Instead of cofusing what to wear, I just grab my niform, that's all.
================================================
Every school have their own uniform,however, there are 3 common colors chosen for clothes.
White, Blue, and Yellow.
I'm a girls' senior high student, and blue is the color of my uniorm.
This is our uniform.
In our school, we can need to wear the leather shoes every day.
In summer, we can choose wear the skirt or pants.
Most of us prefer to wear pants.
Since it's more comfortable than skirt.
================================================
If you observe the uniform more closer, you will find something on it.
For example, the following picture is my uniform.
The characters " 蘭陽女中 " is the name of my school.
You can see 3 lines nearby each side, it means I'm third grade in school.
( By the way, we only study in senior for 3 years.)
The characters " 玖 "means my class -- Nine.
The number is my student ID nmber.
Of course, the imformations on it are vary from school (for example, some school embroider student's name on it, however, most girls' senior high don't do that.)
I don't know if people in other country do that or not, but if you want to share with me, just leave the message!
The world is filled with meaningful stories. Thus, I'd love to share things in the corner throughout the world.

Chinese phonetic alphabet
2015.10.23
In English, if you don't know the pronunciation of the word; you can check the "Kenyon and Knott".
In Taiwanese Mandarin, you can check the Chinese phonetic alphabet.
Taiwanese call it 注音. (zhu-yin)
Therefre, I'm gonna to share something about zhuyin to you.
======================================================
There are 26 alphabets in English, such as A,B,C,D,E...
In Taiwanese Mandarin, there are 37 alphabets.
( By the way, There are several difference between Chinese and Taiwanese Mandarin. Maybe I will show you the differences next time. However, we actually say "I can speak in Chinese." I didn't know this word until I searched "Taiwanese Mandarin" on the internet. But we call Chinese used in Taiwan " 繁體字", Chinese used in China "簡體字". Therefore, the word "Chinese" I use in the following mean "Taiwanese Mandarin".)
The following are the alphabets,
ㄅ ㄆ ㄇ ㄈ
ㄉ ㄊ ㄋ ㄌ
ㄍ ㄎ ㄏ
ㄐ ㄑ ㄒ
ㄓ ㄔ ㄕ ㄖ
ㄗ ㄘ ㄙ
ㄧ ㄨ ㄩ
ㄚ ㄛ ㄜ ㄝ
ㄞ ㄟ ㄠ ㄡ
ㄢ ㄣ ㄤ ㄥ
ㄦ
Moreover, there are 5 tones in Chinese.
The first tone: (nothing)
second: ˊ
third: ˇ
forth: ˋ
The light tone: ˙
Nevertheless, these alphabets and tones won't show on the book, except the text book of elementary school.
We type it, and it will turn into the character instead.
This is the picture of my phone keyboard.
You can see the alphabets on it.
The following picture will ahow you how the character produced.
1.
2.
3.
4.
I think it's interesting, because it's totally different from English.
Do you agree with me?
However, language cannot easily understand just by word.
Therefore, I'm planning to make a video to introduce these.
(But not so fast, maybe after January.When I finished my university entrance exam. SAT)
Hope you like the topic I shared today.
See you next week!

Gestures
2015.10.16
Hello everyone.
This week, I want to talk about gesture in Taiwan.
================================================
This summer, I met an American.
As we waited the bus, I was trying to taught her a simple game to kill time.
However, when I said 4 and 7, and guestured like these:
Seeing her confused,but I didn't know why she felt confusing.
She told me that they did't represent 4 and 7 like these.
I did know that some other countries have different guesture for the number, however, I used to think that we are the same to U.S. .
Now, let me show you how most Taiwanese guesture for the number.
Are these different from your country?
Someone may say that the "six" is like "phone" .
In Taiwan, it also means the "phone", however, there is a little different betwen these two.
six & phone
==================================================
Another guesture I want to share with you is ...
Here, it doesn't mean "2" anymore.
If you don't know what to do when taking the photo, you can try to do this guesture.
# My friend. # When I was a little girl.
#Friends and teacher.
When taking a photo, people in Taiwan are used to guesturing like this.
We say " ya~" when doing this.
I heard a lot of Asians said "If you see someone guesture like this, he/she must come from Taiwan."
Nevertheless, many people who live in Asia doing this guesture now.
To sum up, using this guesture in the picture may origined from Taiwan.
When I show some pictures to my foreign friends, they said what they can image about this guesture is "peace".
====================================================
There are lots of photo this time!
Hope you will like this article, and if you have any idea to share with me, Comment !!!

Religion in Taiwan -- Temple
2015.10.08
Hello, everyone!
This week, I want to talk about religion in Taiwan.
It won't be a serious topic, just enjoy it!
The following are just my own opinion, so, don't be too serious about it. :)
=============================================
The reason why I want to talk about this subject is because the history class.
I'm studying in senior high now, therefore, I have learned lots of world history now.
As I remembered, there were some world involved to religion in the Western.(The war which I mean is between two or more different religions, it's not mean protest.)
Nevertheless, there were no war such this in the area where I live in.(Not including Middle East and North Asia.)
I don't think that there was a war between Buddhist and Taoist.
Unless I never heard that before.
I think people here are more tolerant about the religion.(Of course not "everyone", but most.)
There is something interesting that if you ask the person who are not an exactly Buddhist, Christian ,Catholic, Muslim(In short, that's mean most people in Taiwan.) what religion they follow, you may listen the answer like:
"Um....... I think maybe..... Taoism? Or Buddhism? oh... I'm not sure..."
More than half person will give you the answer like this.
So did me before.
Until my history teacher told us what religion we follow, I eventually knew what belief I'm.
Most of us believe in " Folk religion".
I can explain that why most people are not exactly know what religion we are.
Because we always go to the temple to 拜拜(The pronunciation is "bye-bye")
But most of us didn't get the ceremony to get into the religion group.
However, that's not mean that we are not believe in god.
We just not a formal member.(I don't think the explanation is well, but I think it's closed.)
As a result, let me show you some picture of temple in Taiwan.(Exactly in the area around my house.)
==============================================
In Taiwan, there are lots of temples.
For example, I take the bus to my school, and on my way to school(only 15~20 minutes), there are "4"temples!
Every temple have different god.
However, there are too many gods and goddesses in Taiwan,so, if you are interesting in it, maybe you can search " Taiwanese gods" in google.
I think "Mazu"(媽祖) is one of the most famous goddesses here.
Maybe you have heard that before.
In fact, I can see this temple from the window of my bedroom.
Therefore, this temples is where my family always go when there is some events.
This is another temple around my house.
(But, the photo didn't show the "temple" itself, just its "door"(I'm not sure if I should call it door or something else.)
==============================================================
Now, I want tell you what 拜拜 is.
First, you should hold 香(incense stick), how many shall you hold is depend on temple.
Second, you need to you use fire to light it.
Once it burn, you cannot use your mouth to blow it, instead , you should use your hand.
Finally, stick it to the 香爐(censer).
Exactly, you should use your left hand to stick it.
That's all, it doesn't too difficult right?

This is that we call 香.
And this is censer.香爐
=============================================
Finally,there is another thing you may heard that before.
We burn 金紙 or 紙錢 to God or ancestors.
maybe you can call it paper money.(I'm not sure how can I translate it into English.)
Some foreigners said that is pretty, how do you think?
(I don't know, because I have seen it since I was little...)
Of course there are many kinds of it.
The photo just show one kind of 金紙.
The thing you should know is that 金紙 is for God, and 紙錢 is for people who died.
==============================================
The above are something about temple in Taiwan, hope you like it!
Next week, I'll show you other interesting thing in Taiwan!
See you next time, Bye bye!
